Sintra
Lo! Cintra’s glorious Eden intervenes
HISTORIC SINTRA
Sintra has inspired and fascinated many romantic figures in history with its exotic and mystical atmosphere. Byron described Sintra as one of the most beautiful spots in the world, ‘a garden of Eden, a paradise’. Hans Christian Anderson who visited Sintra in 1866 described Sintra as unrivalled, the most beautiful and lauded part of Portugal. The historic sites of Sintra are plentiful and stunning and include Sintra National Palace, Monserate Palace, Quinta da Regaleira and Convento dos Capuchos.
The location of our Quinta is perfect for discovering Sintra (15 minutes away by car, or a lovely 35 minute walk). The wonderful white sandy beaches of Praia Grande and Praia das Macas are perfect for those who want to jump the waves, top up the tan and enjoy some fresh grilled fish.
Our Quinta is located at the heart of the Sintra Serra. Sintra is 15 minutes away by car, (due to a one-way system), or a 35 minute 3 mile walk. Lisbon is about 40 minutes away by car and there is also a regular train from Sintra station to Rossio station in central Lisbon. The nearest beaches of Praia Grande and Praia d’Adraga are a 15 minute drive away.
A retreat bus shuttle is provided for the airport and daily trips into Sintra and the local tourist sites. These include Sintra National Palace, Monserrate Palace, Quinta da Regaleira and Convento dos Capuchos.
